There is a news stand in the lobby of my building. It doesn’t normally open until after 9:00 AM, so they don’t sell much coffee. But it is the only lottery vendor in the place, so I think that almost all the business is from that. (As an aside there is a guy who hangs out there who is like an “employee” except I think he works for donations of food and coffee; he is mildly creepy to me and I’m a dude.)

Anyway, they have a gate and it is down when they are closed. But the gate has slots. And the instant lottery machine is positioned so you can reach through the slots in the gate to put in your money and receive your tickets. I think this is awesome and I may do a diagram of it later.
